Each Film Coated Tablet Contains:
Phenytoin Sodium IP 100 mg
Phenytoin is the antiepileptic drug. It belongs to the hydantoin group of class.
Indications

It is used to treat seizures occurring during the neurosurgery
- It is used in tonic clonic seizures
Mechanism of action
Phenytoin mainly blocks the voltage gated sodium channel which generates the high frequency action potentials of neurons
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption-
It is orally absorbed
Protein binding–
It is about 90% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism–
It is metabolized into the reactive arene oxides intermediate
Excretion-
It is excreted unchanged in the urine
Side Effects
- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Nervousness
Contraindication
- Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated in the Adams stoke syndrome
- Contraindicated in pregnancy
